Is he here yet?

It rained last night...a whole lot. There was lightning, hail, thunder and torrents. The satellite went out, the kids couldn't swim and they asked and asked what to do. I suggested they park in front of the window and watch the storm "like the kids in the Cat in the Hat book." Now, the boy wasn't going for this of course but the girl grabbed my hassock and did just that. She folded her little arms and sat there for some time... Then she turned her head and said, "Mommy, I don't think he's coming." I agreed that he might not. She figured that to be a good thing because Mommy "would get mad when he'd trash the house." I agreed again pointing out that she didn't like to help pick up so it was probably just as well. She watched a little longer, and then the tv came back on.

  1. I keep waiting for the storm to come so I don't have to water. They've been predicting it for three days now.
Being in CA it's highly unlikely it will be anything to write home about, but, I'm hoping!

  2. Horrible storm here now. Thankfully by Saturday it'll be sunny and 70!

Reason #11223344 why I would make a bad mum - I would have told your kids to go play in the rain, with swords, in their bare feet.

We haven't got a good storm yet, still waiting and still early in the season.

  4. Any other storm and I would have laughed along but you might have given your self the bad Mom award here yesterday Dawg. 2 kids did get struck by lightning after their ball game was called and they were playing catch in left field. And someone else was near a metal pole that got struck and is hospitalized too. :(

The girl sat and watched and watched and sat. He did not come, that Cat in the Hat.

Dr Seuss lived in my city. His characters were drawn from the animals in Forest Park Zoo, including the elephant Horton. Mulberry Street is a real street where he lived.
