Do you use a rabbit?

Get your minds out of the gutter people! My Daddy taught me this trick when I was younger and while he tried to un-teach it once I started driving it was too late.

When on a trip I wait for some nice car to zoom past me...then I give them a good running start and tail them like a fox, hence the rabbit name. All in he name of avoiding speeding tickets while reaching my destination as quickly as possible.

Well, I got trapped and released on my way to Florida. And trapped again on the way back, but not nearly so lucky. See, at 5am there aren't as many rabbits to chase on the highway.

Now the court date is approaching and the big question swirling in my head is whether or not it's worth it to go to court...It's and hour and a half away in a po-dunk town. My driving record is clean. Had I been stopped here I'd be there with bells on awaiting my sentence to attend driving school, but in a small county that is notorious for handing out speeding tickets I wonder if it's worth it? The ticket is $135. What would you do?

I think you should go, a 90 minute drive is worth the money you could save on surcharges and jacked up insurance.

  2. I'd be inclined to pay the fine - because the drive wouldn't be worth it for me.

  4. Ok - I admit - the title on this post really caught my attention. Anyway, is your driving record affected differently if you just pay it as opposed to going to court? I'd be inclined to just pay it and not have to deal with the court appearance unless I really thought going to court would get me cleared of the ticket.

  5. I vow to only slow down when I think I might get caught...but I paid the damn ticket anyway.
